The first call for proposals
The first call for proposals for the financing with the CBFF was launched in June 2008. In response to that call for proposals, the CBFF received 188 concept notes and 15 projects were approved for financing by the Governing Council. These projects have an average duration of 3 years each and the total cost of financing is estimated at 15 million Euros. The second call for proposals
The second call for proposals was launched on December 1st, 2009 and ended in Sunday, February 28th, 2010. In response to this call for proposals, the CBFF received 421 concept notes, including 381 from NGOs and 40 from governments of the COMIFAC member countries. Among 381 projects proposals received from NGOs, 82 NGOs were requested to prepare detailed proposals that have been evaluated by the CBFF Secretariat. Financial needs estimated for civil society projects are 54 million Euros.
Among 40 project proposals received from the governments, 21 proposals have been evaluated. Financial needs estimated for the 21 government projects are 52 million Euros.
Proposals from the NGO and civil society as well as 40 Government projects will be submitted for approval to the Governing Council during its June 2010 meeting.
The CBFF is also considering a joint concept note from COMIFAC, UN/REDD, FCPF (WB) for a project to improve capacity on Monitoring-Reporting-Verification (MRV) of carbon at the national and regional levels for an amount of 34 million Euros.
The next call for proposals
The next call for proposals (third call) will probably take place during the first half of the second half-year 2010.

Fund value
The CBFF was launched in London in June 2008. Its current value is €118 million, provided by the Governments of the United Kingdom and Norway. Grants provided by the Fund are intended to support projects for a period of 1 to 3 years.
